Getting Started
This page takes you from "I have a UnitOps account" to "my team is using published forecasts" in six steps. Each step links to a detailed page.
Step 1: Sign in
- Open the app for your environment:
- Production:
https://unitops.datalakehouse.io - Staging:
https://dev-staging-unitops.datalakehouse.io
- Production:
- Click Sign in. You are redirected to the DataLakeHouse identity provider (Auth0).
- Sign in with your work email, Google Workspace account, or your company SSO connection if one is configured.
- On first sign-in you land on the home dashboard scoped to your organization and the locations you are allowed to see.
If you do not have an account yet, ask an administrator to send you an invite from Admin -> Invites. See Invite users.
Every page is scoped to your organization, and most pages are further scoped to the locations assigned to you. If a location is missing from a dropdown, you have not been granted access to it. See Location permissions.
Step 2: Learn the layout
| Area | What lives there |
|---|---|
| Left sidebar | Navigation: Home, the operating analytics (Sales, Labor, Menu Mix, Inventory, Order Channels, Guest Feedback, Reviews, Weather, Weather Impact, ML Forecast, Insights), Dashboards, Forecasting (with Workspace, Data, and Configuration sub-sections), Chat, and Admin. Platform admins also see Platform Admin |
| Top bar | Location and date-range context, notification bell, account menu (role, locations, shortcuts) |
| Account menu | Profile, notification settings, sign out |
| Admin | Organization configuration, opening on an Overview with setup status and grouped into AI, Communication, Data, and Manage sections (locations, people, roles, invites, channels, notifications, documents, data stores, branding, audit log, and more) |
There is no top-level Notifications entry. The notification bell in the top bar streams alerts in real time; click it to see unread alerts, or open the full history from there. You tune your own alerts under Settings -> Notifications.
Step 3: Complete admin setup (admins only)
Before a General Manager can produce a forecast, an admin must configure the organization once. Work through the first-time setup checklist, which covers:
- Locations
- People and roles
- Location permissions
- Forecast settings: operating hours, day parts, job positions, labor matrix
- Approval settings
- Data stores so warehouse-backed KPIs and dashboards have data
Navigate to Forecasting at any time: the Getting Started checklist there shows a green check for each completed prerequisite.
Step 4: Connect the apps your team already uses
| App | What it enables | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Slack | Channel alerts and AI chat by DM or @mention | Slack setup |
| Microsoft Teams | Channel alerts, per-user DMs, and AI chat | Teams setup |
| Email, SMS, web push | Alert delivery channels | Notification channels |
| AI (platform-managed) | Chat assistant and AI summaries; set spending budgets and run a connection check | AI configuration |
| Google Cloud Storage or Amazon S3 | Document uploads and AI document search | Document storage and embeddings |
Step 5: Create your first forecast
- Create a weekly sales forecast and publish it.
- Generate the labor forecast from the published sales forecast and export the schedule.
- Enter actuals after the week closes and review variance.
Step 6: Turn on the alerts that matter
- As an admin, set the role defaults so every General Manager starts with the right alerts.
- As a user, fine-tune your own alerts in Settings -> Notifications. See Your notification settings.
- Add organization-specific rules with custom alert rules.
